In a highly anticipated Saturday matchup, the No. 21 Florida State Seminoles took on The Citadel in a doubleheader at Dick Howser Stadium. The Seminoles proved their mettle, emerging victorious in both games, but the journey was far from straightforward.
Game 1: A Comeback Story
The first game began with a tense standoff, as both teams held each other scoreless for the first four innings. However, The Citadel broke the ice in the top of the fifth, taking a 2-0 lead. With two on and one out, left fielder Noah Sheffield hit a grounder that resulted in an error, allowing the winning run to score.
Trey Beard, who started the game for FSU, threw five solid innings, allowing just one unearned run. Kevin Mebilas came in for the final three innings, striking out four and earning the win.
